1925 - John T. Spickett

 

John T. Spickett was born in 1858 and lived until 1932.  He was married to Josephine C. “Lottie”. 


The Spicketts came to Juneau in 1896.  They ran Spickett’s Post Office Store from 1913-17, and were known for their amazing collection of Tlinget baskets.


The Spickett’s built the Spickett Apartments on Fifth Street in 1916 and made their home there. 

Spickett attended the Republican National Convention in 1904.


Spickett opened the 650-seat Spickett’s Palace Theater in September 1916, and ran the two Orpheum theaters in Juneau and Douglas.  He also owned the Hotel Franklin.
